About Chalet Alti ...
The luxurious 5 star Chalet Alti may have all the charm of a traditional mountain chalet, but it also boasts all the comfort of modern living and the latest in green technology, including solar panels and geothermal heating.
Up to 14 people (13 adults) can be accommodated comfortably in this three-storey chalet, and children are particularly well catered for, with their own mezzanine floor!
South-facing to make the most of the sunshine, there are fabulous views of the Aravis mountains and the beautiful village of Le Grand Bornand, which is just a few minutes walk away. Here you'll find a good selection of shops and restaurants as well as banks, ski hire etc.
There's a ski bus stop just 200m from the chalet, but in the right conditions, experienced skiers can ski down to the Rosay gondola.
The property ...
Enter Chalet Alti on the top floor and you'll find a ski store with a boot warmer and the entrance to the double garage.
The rest of the floor is strictly for the younger members of your party, who have their own sitting room with a television, Wii console and board games. There is also a bedroom with a pair of bunk beds and a single bed, and a skylight perfect for star-gazing. This room also has a glazed wall which over looks the downstairs living area, so that you can keep an eye on them (or they can keep an eye on you).
Take the central wooden staircase down to the main living area, where floor to ceiling windows fill the room with light and make the most of the breath-taking views. A cosy seating area and a large dining table which seats everyone are either side of a modern floating fireplace, and doors open on to one of three terraces. Those seeking a little quiet can head for the library, which has a good selection of books and games as well as doors to the west terrace.
The well-equipped kitchen has an island unit and a breakfast bar as well as a dishwasher, oven and steam oven - preparing meals will be a pleasure.
There are two double bedrooms on this floor, both with en suite showers, and one of which has doors to the east terrace where you'll find the large jacuzzi - grab a bottle of wine from the wine cellar and relax in the bubbles under the stars! And recently a new sauna for 4 poeple has been added.
The remaining three bedrooms are on the lower ground floor, all of which face south and have access to a terrace - two doubles, one of which can be arranged as a twin room, and a family room with a double bed, a single bed and en suite shower. The large bathroom on this floor has a shower cubicle, two sinks and a beautiful oval bath. There is also a separate toilet and a useful laundry room with a washing machine, dryer and room to air clothes.
About the area ...
Confident skiers can ski from Chalet Alti down to the foot of the Rosay gondola in Le Grand Bornand. The village has a good choice of skiing for all abilities, with more in nearby Chinaillon.
The ski bus, which stops 200m from the chalet, links the village with La Clusaz and Manigod, together they offer more than 200km of pistes, which are all covered by the Aravis ski pass. There are also plenty of cross-country trails.
Non-skiers won't be bored either, try hiking or snowshoeing, paragliding, hot air ballooning, ice skating or ice-climbing.
Le Grand Bornand boasts the Famille Plus mark, ensuring that it there is always entertainment and activities for even the youngest visitors. There's a ski room and boot warmer at Chalet Alti, so you can be sure you will always be ready to hit the slopes.
At the end of the day, share your adventures and a drink or two with friends in the fabulous jacuzzi - you might even spot a shooting star.
Summer thrill-seekers need look no further than Chalet Alti for mountain adventure.
A network of walking and biking trails criss-cross the slopes, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist office.
In Le Grand Bornand there is a beautiful nine-hole golf course with a great driving range, and on those very hot days head for the fantastic swimming pool complex, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics. If you're looking for something a little more challenging, there's a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
August sees the International Children's Festival in Le Grand Bornand - a week of puppet shows, circus acts and workshops, with a grand firework finale. It's always hugely popular, so make sure you book early to guarantee a holiday you'll never forget!
There are larger supermarkets in Thônes, just 20 minutes drive away, and the medieval town of Annecy, just beyond Thônes, is a must for a day out, whatever the season. It offers a unique mix of shops, restaurants, galleries and museums, as well as the beautiful Lake Annecy, said to be the cleanest lake in Europe.

The OVO Network Review
Completed in time for winter guests 2015/2016 competent skiers staying at Chalet Alti can ski down through the garden to the bottom of the telecabins in Grand Bornand. The chalet is within walking distance or a short drive/ bus ride of the village, so non skiers have access to all of the amenities and services of the beautiful Savoyard mountain village of Grand Bornand.
The Kids floor is a great bonus to groups on holiday with children and adolescents, there are nice decorative and design touches throughout and the layout over three floors ensures everyone has plenty of space. The owners live in the property themselves for part of the year and have invested a great deal of time, effort, and thought into every detail to ensure the chalet works as well for them as it does for their guests.
This property is appealing on many levels: the quality of the work, materials used, design and finishes, the extra luxury touches, the facilities, and the fact that the owners have paid as much attention to the outdoor living spaces as the indoors all add up to make a splendid property. The chalet sits beautifully in the landscape; when indoors the outdoor spaces with spectacular views of the Aravis are part of the landscape of each room, views are open, the outdoor spaces are not overlooked, the chalet sits above open meadows.
In fact in it’s great location, and special extra facilities such as the sheltered outdoor lounge, and the fabulous open air jacuzzi room Chalet Alti is a great place to stay all year round.
For winter guests, competent skiers can ski down to the tele-cabin via the garden, the walk back up to the chalet is short and quite steep. The drive down to the chalet is cleared regularly, guests must remember to have snow tyres, pack snow chains, and be prepared to use them.
The sumptuous luxury and splendid isolation of the chalet are worth it.
For summer guests this is a great location for access to the many and varied activities available in the village.

From the owner
Valérie
Childhood memories of winter holidays with my family will stay with me for ever - the first slopes of the day covered with fresh snow, tumbles in the powder, picnics in the Aravis mountains next to a snow-covered chalet, building snowmen. With cheeks flushed from the snow, we returned to the chalet hungry and happy to see the huge feast prepared for us by Grandma Alexia, who loved us so much.
Home-made jams made from forest fruits, fresh bread and hot chocolate in the battered aluminium pan - and eventually I would sit down with my 14 cousins for the sandwich-making competition!
Today we have three children and we are making our own fun so that they have stories of the mountains to tell their children.
Chalet Alti is an integral part of our family, and the name comes from the initials of our three kids.
The chalet will become part of the fabulous moments we want to share with you. It will be your base camp, your refuge in summer and in winter for unforgettable days with friends and family.
It is in an idyllic location with views of the Aravis mountains, overlooking the traditional village of Le Grand Bornand. In the evening, the view of the village sparkling with thousands of lights is magical.
And with no need for a car, you will know you are on holiday! You can walk to the village, the restaurants and the bottom of the pistes and in the summer, to the hiking trails. It means everyone, whatever their age, can live life at their own pace.
Inside, the chalet is a contemporary take on the mountain barn we loved so much. It was built by local craftsmen from quality materials, with respect for the environment.
Part of the roof came from a tree planted by my husband's grandfather. The wood was also used in some of the furniture around the house.
To make it a relaxing place for guests, we wanted to create a warm place open to the surrounding nature, filled with gentleness and well-being.
The chalet has plenty of space for 14 people and offers plenty of cosy areas where several families can feel comfortable. After a day skiing or hiking in the mountains, there are plenty of ways to relax with the family.
You could enjoy the Jacuzzi, which has room for eight, with multi-coloured lighting and a Bluetooth sound system, on its own large terrace. You will also appreciate the various seating areas you will find throughout the chalet.
Lovers of good wines will love the wine cellar - you can take a bottle and get together around the central fireplace while the children sleep peacefully upstairs or play on the mezzanine floor, which has been designed especially for them.
Just like us, enjoy this haven of peace - it's yours for just a few weeks every year."

“Unforgettable memories”
At first glance it was a dazzling sight: the volume, the huge picture windows overlooking a sumptuous landscape, the decoration, the comfort, the absolute well-being for the 3 generations who spent quality time here. We were also won over by the owners' charming welcome.
